Time Management Coaching Client:
Brenda, Working Mom
GOAL:
Help a professional working mom take control of her never-ending to-do list to gain peace of mind and quality time with her family.
CHALLENGE:
Like many professional women who are also mothers, Brenda felt like she couldn't relax and spend time with her family until she’d crossed everything off her to-do list. As a top sales executive in banking, the problem was her to-dos were never done. The result? She was falling behind at work and didn’t spend enough quality time with her three young children. She struggled with organizing space and time. Her paperwork and files were chaotic and she had a decade’s worth of her kids’ memorabilia stashed around her home. She needed help eliminating distractions and freeing her energy to focus on what really mattered.
SOLUTION:
We divided Brenda's project into four phases, assigning a team of our specialists to conquer space and time in each aspect of her life. Throughout, we re-purposed containers she already owned to design a beautiful system.
At home, we organized her closets, kitchen counters and basement to speed access to everyday items. We divided the basement into clear zones, separating household supplies, seasonal items and entertainment.
Next, we consolidated all memorabilia to fit into one large walk-in closet. We then designed systems for photos, artwork and mementos, and we created a process for collecting new items and keeping things current.
Third, we changed the layout of her office to make it efficient and inviting. We designed a paper flow system to eliminate desktop piles and sorted through five file drawers to toss the obsolete, re-label relevant, and provide easy access to information.
Finally, we delivered a series of time management coaching sessions to help her shift her mindset from “Get Everything Done” to “Get To What’s Most Important.” We even gave her a customized time map!
RESULTS:
With her life de-cluttered, Brenda can now focus on her most critical tasks and invest in time for her children, her husband and herself.
